You may remember that Volvo-Geely subsidiary, Polestar, had already announced its Polestar 2, its first all-electric car. Volvo, on the other hand, had no Battery Electric Vehicles under his name yet.

Now, with the XC40 Recharge, Volvo has an all-electric model to offer its eco-conscious patrons. This unit is almost identical to Volvo’s XC40 SUV bestseller.

On October 1, the head of Volvo’s global industrial operations and quality, Javier Varela, gave the official announcement to begin production at its Ghent plant.

According to their reports, all XC40 Recharge units for production have already been sold. The company has yet to announce how many units it plans to manufacture in total. Interested buyers should expect a figure of about $55,000 (pre-US incentives).

Volvo guarantees to impress with outstanding specs on its XC40 Recharge. Here’s to highlight a few:

  • An acceleration of 0-60mph within 4.7sec
  • Get 200 to 208 miles long-range driving capacity (subject to driving conditions, battery conditions, and car maintenance)
  • You can go from 0 to 80% charging within 40 minutes
  • Drivers enjoy 402hp pure power
  • Reach 112 mph top speed on this all-electric SUV
  • It uses a 78kWh battery pack
  • It features a 300kW Dual Motor (150kW per axle)
  • You get 150kW fast-charging DC capacity and 11 kW onboard charger

Volvo XC40 Recharge offers intuitive and smooth driving. Drivers won’t have a start button. They just select the gear and drive. Twin electric motors enable a smooth and powerful one pedal drive. And don’t forget, you get zero emissions on this all-electric SUV.

The XC40 offers full digital connectivity. Google Assistant and Google Maps. Access the Google Play Store in an instant.  And you don’t need your phone.

This electric SUV also makes parking easier for you. It has 4 hi-definition cameras that provide a 360° view. You can park with ease. There’s no stressing out with parking your vehicle.

Travelers also get a built-in route planner. It sends out an alert on your battery charge. You can also set charge alerts in advance so you don’t forget when and where you have to charge.

Volvo Cars give battery warranties for your XC40 Recharge. That is 8 years or 160,000km. Batteries are also fully replaceable.
