Chivalry of a Failed Knight Season 2 Plot, Cast & Release Date (2021 Update)

Chivalry of a Failed Knight- Plot and Storyline

The anime despite being based in a fantasy world has a story of redemption that we all can relate to in various aspects.

The series was inspired by a novel written by Riku Misora, published by SB Creative, and brought to life in the form of an anime by Silver Link and Nexus.

In this anime world, some people have the extraordinary ability to manifest weapons called “Devices” forged from their own souls. These people are called “Blazers” and are commissioned by an international organization called Magical Knights.

Hagun Academy has been known as one of Japan’s highest ranked institutions, always taking first place in the Seven Star Sword Art Festival where Blazers go through a vigorous competition to determine who will be the next strongest Apprentice Knight.

However recently Hagun academy faced a few troubling years of lackluster performance, causing Kurono Shinguji steps up as the academy director to investigate and alleviate the performance problem faced by the prestigious academy.

The anime starts when Ikki Kurogane, the worst student in the academy earning him the name “The Worst One”. This year Ikki gets a new unexpected roommate Stella Vermillion, a strong Rank-A princess transfer student. Usually students get paired with similar ranked members but the Academy directory hopes that Stella will mentor Ikki into becoming a better student.

While Ikki tests poorly in magic he excels in physical strength, which is the complete opposite from his new roommate Stella who specializes in magic.

During first encounter Ikki and Stella get off on the wrong foot but that quickly changes as the friendship evolves into a romance.

Season 1 based on the first 3 novels ends with Ikki getting engaged to Stella and both qualifying for the upcoming Seven Star Sword Art Festival. Leaving a lot of room for a second season. The strong storyline was loved by many viewers.

Cast and Characters

The main characters of this Anime series are Ikki Kurogane and Stella Vermillion, with a few others joining in as the anime progresses, like Ikki’s sister Shizuku Kurogane.

Ikki Kurogane

Ikki is voiced by Ryōta Ōsaka in the Japanese version and dubbed by Clint Bickham in the English one. He comes from the Kurogane Family, that is well known for its power and abilities, but Ikki had a bad childhood growing up as he was repeatedly told that he is not worth much.

His Device is called Intensu, which grants him the ability to learn and use the powers that his opponents use. The powers name is called “Blade Steal” and this is how he won a duel with Stella Vermillion. Later in Episode 4 he refines his ability to “Perfect Vision” where he can read, anticipate and pre-empt his enemies thoughts, giving him a greater edge.

Stella Vermillion

Stella Vermillion, voiced by Shizuka Ishigami in Japanese and Luci Christian in English. She is the princess of a small country, and the one who will help shape Ikki’s character and power.

Shizuku Kurogane

Shizuku Kurogane is Ikkis little sister, and one of the few people who truly respect him in the beginning of the series.

Chivalry of a Failed Knight Season 2 Release Date

Season 1 covered the first 3 novels, leaving a lot of room to expand on the 18 volumes already released in Japan. The English translations are slow catching up with volume 5 being released on the December 28, 2020. So it is safe to assume that there is more than enough material for the next season.

The second season was expected by fans, based on speculations alone, how they left season 1 but that never happened.

Sadly, there is no official information about when Chivalry of a Failed Knight Season 2 will be released.

Until we will have some information from the producers, the only sensible thing to do for the avid anime consumer would be to read the 5th volume of the novel that inspired the series.
