{"id":327,"date":"2020-09-21T22:45:41","date_gmt":"2020-09-21T22:45:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greenevmovement.com\/?p=327"},"modified":"2020-09-21T22:45:41","modified_gmt":"2020-09-21T22:45:41","slug":"general-motors-reveals-wireless-battery-management-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/geekytechnews.com\/?p=327","title":{"rendered":"General Motors Reveals Industry&#8217;s First Wireless Battery Management System"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">General Motors is on track to introduce the industry\u2019s first and almost completely wireless battery management system, or <strong>wBMS<\/strong>, in its production electric vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The American automotive giant GM forms a partnership with the American Semiconductor company Analog Devices to develop wBMS as the primary driver to power many different types of EVs from a common set of battery components.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">GM plans to first implement the wBMS on the company\u2019s Ultium-powered EVs to step up its market rise. The main reason for this is that there will be no need for the engineers to develop and design specific communication systems or redesign complex wiring schemes for each new vehicle type.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cScalability and complexity reduction are a theme with our Ultium batteries\u2014the wireless battery management system is the critical enabler of this amazing flexibility. He also added that this collaboration will accelerate the transition to electric vehicles and a sustainable future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The wBMS will be standard on all GM\u2019s planned EV powered by Ultium batteries.
